INDONESIAN INFRASTRUCTURE

As the effort to enhance the acceleration of infrastructure development involving domestic and foreign investment, Indonesian Government deemed that it was necessary to hold Indonesian Infrastructure 2010 Program.

The cancellation of the program performance was mostly caused by the government needing more time to maturate the preparation relating with the achievement of Infrastructure Policy Package and the projects to be offered to private investors.

The activity of Indonesia Infrastructure 2010 will be focused on 2 main programs :
Conference (2 days) discussing about the progress achieved by Indonesian Government since Infrastructure Summit – January 2008. In such conference the progress of reform stages related to regulation and law, either cross-sector or by-sector are going to be discussed. Further, the conference will discuss about the opportunity of the private sector participation in many infrastructure projects (central, regional, state-owned enterprise and private-company) to which they are hoped to lead into KPS transaction.

Exhibition (3 days) with the theme is: “Potential and Opportunity of Infrastructure Industry”. The program is hoped to be able in attracting many parties including the regions having good potential for KPS and agents of industry relating with infrastructure.

The central theme of Indonesia Infrastructure 2010 program is “Harmonization of Infrastructure Development with Many Funding Resources (The Fund of Public, Private and Society) in frame of Continuing the Step of Infrastructure Development Reform.”

Through the program we hoped that we can achieve the objectives of Indonesia Infrastructure 2010 in activating the real sector through infrastructure development by:

Giving stimulant and activating “Infrastructure Industry” for domestic and foreign investors, consultants, contractors, suppliers, financiers (banking & non-banking financial institutions, insurances, etc).

Tightening the cooperation between the government and private sectors in developing the infrastructure.

Involving local governments in discovering the potential and opportunity of Indonesian regions.

Until today we have already received the admission of approximately 375 participants of the conference and 80 companies that are going to take part in the exhibition either domestic or foreign companies. The government hopes that there will be more participants from the Local Governments, Private Sectors, State-Owned Corporations, Province-Owned Corporations, and Multilateral Agencies in Indonesia Infrastructure 2006.

In order to succeed the event, the government has arranged an inter-department team together with KADIN (the Chamber of Commerce and Industry) to prepare it. Hopefully the conduct of Indonesia Infrastructure 2010 will be able to create a conducive investment climate and at the end the private sector will be interested in accelerating the supply of infrastructure together for the welfare of Indonesian people.
